The Home Has Three Distinct Units
Risedale Estates Limited is a proactive and professional independent provider of services for older people which provides individualised care for all of our residents.
Originally ‘Risedale Villas’ was built in 1888. Risedale Nursing Home is situated in private gardens located approximately one and a half miles from the centre of Barrow-in-Furness. The home has been refurbished to a very high standard to ensure that clients, their families and friends receive the best possible service.
All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. 42 rooms have their own en-suite facilities and personal furniture and belongings are welcome.
In the home there are two jacuzzi bathrooms which have hoists installed to enable clients to bathe safely. The home has two attractive lounge areas and dining areas as well as a library/reading area and a dedicated hair-dressing salon.
Covering two floors, the homes are linked by two independent modern passenger lifts and good wheelchair access is provided to the gardens/patio areas where clients and their relatives can relax enjoying the scenery.
Risedale provide excellent, nutritional food from an extensive and varied menu, prepared daily by our skilled chefs. Individual dietary needs are always taken into account and menus offer a wide choice at every meal.

Many Services Available
The home trains assistant practitioners in conjunction with The University of of Cumbria, who achieve a foundation degree and in addition, the company trains registered nurses with the Open University.
The personal services available are extensive – and include hairdressing and chiropody.
Personal professional services are available to each client, For example, general practitioner, dentist, solicitor, accountant and investment advisor.
There is also access to a counsellor, community physio, and community pharmacy who provide support, guidance, advice and audit.
Residents have the privacy to consult visiting professionals at their home whenever they wish.
Social Activities
Social activities are an important feature and a wide range of entertainment is available to all clients, if they so wish. They are tailored to suit their individual interests and abilities and Friends and family are always welcome to join in.

The Abbey Unit provides up to 24 nursing beds. The Rainbow unit provides up to 23 nursing beds.
All beds are electronically adjustable and have pressure mattresses and Arjo moving and handling equipment suitable for nursing clients, has been purchased for the home. Registered Nurses are on duty 24 hours per day within the home.

The Ivies unit is a specialist dementia unit caring for clients requiring nursing dementia care.
A senior mental health nurse works on the unit on Tuesdays and the senior mental health nurse works with the local Care Home Support and Education Service each Tuesday. Which ensures mental health needs are assessed and actioned immediately.
Risedale have an end of life, Gold Standard trained Team Leader who can be used for advice. We also have an infection control champion and numerous trained first aiders.
Risedale has an ethos for training and development, and currently offer apprenticeships in health and social care, Assistant Practitioner and Registered Nursing. A dedicated training team supports the home and in addition, Risedale have a Health and Safety and Complex Care Manager for mental health to support clients with Dementia.
