Cares for up to 42 residents with general nursing needs, over the age of 65, however within the 42 beds, Lonsdale Unit is also able to care for the needs of 3 residents under 65 years.
Lonsdale Unit is purpose built over two floors and has two passenger lifts. There are 40 single rooms and 1 companion room, all are ensuite. There are large dining lounges on each floor. Each floor has large, spacious, fully equipped bathrooms with specialist equipment. There is access to an external garden and seating area.

Supporting this we have excellent training facilities within the Organisation, committed to ensuring quality is taught, delivered and audited on a regular basis. The training team are all highly qualified to teach staff of all disciplines. Supporting staff to achieve personal goals and qualifications are varied, ranging from QCF Level 2 through to Degree Level. A clinical team of experts is on hand to offer support, this includes Qualified Trainers, Clinical Nurse Managers, Health & Safety Manager / Complex Care Manager and a team of Quality Supervisors. In addition, Risedale, in conjunction with the University of Cumbria are training staff in the role of Assistant Practitioners and Registered Nurses. Risedale are developing new roles, for example nursing support roles and funding staff to Registered Nurse status with the Open University and the University of Cumbria. All residents have access to a wide range of facilities both internally and externally, some of which include:
In-house Activity Co-ordinators, who arrange in house therapy-based activities as well as external trips / meals out etc. All activities are planned with individuals and, where appropriate, families and significant others. It is our belief that all staff regardless of disciplines can participate in activities as part of the daily care provision. Family and friends are welcome to attend social events. It is a collective responsibility for all staff to see this as integral to their role.
THE EDEN UNIT, 14 BEDS DOWNSTAIRS
The Eden unit caters for 14 residents with Enhanced Nursing Dementia needs. Some residents require a higher level of care and support than Dementia Nursing Homes can safely manage. This unit provides enhanced Dementia support and higher staffing levels reflect this.
THE DUDDON UNIT, 10 BEDS DOWNSTAIRS
The Duddon unit is a 10 bedded unit catering for residents with Nursing Dementia needs
THE LEVEN UNIT, 13 BEDS UPSTAIRS
The Leven unit caters for 13 long term residents with Nursing Dementia needs.
THE DERWENT UNIT 14 BEDS UPSTAIRS
The Derwent unit caters for 14 long term residents with Nursing Dementia needs.
St George’s Unit accommodates 51 single bedrooms all with ensuite facilities. The home is on two levels, the ground floor comprising of 24 bedrooms for general nursing clients, and the first floor comprising of 27 bedrooms (the Leven Unit) for clients with Dementia.
Residents are comprehensively assessed prior to admission, ensuring health and wellbeing needs. This is in conjunction with family/significant others as well as the relevant multi-disciplinary agencies.
Specialist equipment is provided for those who require it, with all staff trained in its use.
Throughout the home our team of motivated staff are trained to an exceptionally high standard. Delivering quality care, which is person centred and holistic.
