Located in the heart of Barrow’s town centre, Lonsdale is only minutes walk away from the main shopping streets and its famous dockland area, both of which are easily accessible via wheelchairs.

Lonsdale has 43 beds, and provides outcome focused care packages in therapeutic surroundings for clients with nursing, physical impairment and terminal care needs. All clients have access to a wide range of expertise both internally and in the local community. Our team of highly qualified dedicated staff focus on supporting individual need with an individualised, person centred approach.

Lonsdale offers award winning excellence to those using the service, and we strive to provide innovative and participative care whilst challenging traditional boundaries associated with long term care settings.

All staff appreciate the difficulties many new clients and their families face at the prospect of moving into a care home, and therefore strive to create a “home from home” environment where everyone is welcome.

Evidence based, respectful care is combined with a sense of fun to create a living environment intended to foster physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Lonsdale employs a full time Activity Coordinator who is based in the home 5 days each week. Activity timetables are organised weekly to suit the requests of clients.
