Home is situated in private gardens approximately one and a half miles from the centre of Barrow-in-Furness. The home has been totally refurbished to a very high standard to ensure that clients, their families and friends receive the best possible service.

All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard. 42 rooms have their own en-suite bath fitted with an electronically operated hoist, plus 3 bedrooms have an en-suite shower/wet room. Personal furniture and belongings are welcome.

The home has two Jacuzzi bathrooms which have hoists installed to enable clients to bath safely. There are attractive lounge areas, dining rooms, library/reading and reception area and a hairdressing salon. The home covers two floors linked by two independent modern passenger lifts. Good wheelchair access is provided to the gardens and patio areas where clients and their relatives can relax and enjoy the scenery.

Many hotels would wish they had such good food preparation facilities. An extensive varied and nutritious menu is offered in the dining room. Clients’ personal preferences and dietary requirements are always taken into account and menus offer a wide choice at every meal.

Clients are designated a Key Carer – a member of staff who will get to know them personally and will support them and their family. Key Carers receive on-going training and development to ensure they continually update their skills.

The personal services available to clients are extensive – from the Key Carer System through to hairdressing and chiropody. Such services are in addition to personal professional services each client may retain as they wish, for example, general practitioner, dentist, solicitor, accountant and investment advisor. They have the privacy to consult them at their home whenever they wish.

Social activities are an important feature. A wide range of entertainment is available to all clients, if they so wish, and is tailored to suit their individual interests and abilities. Friends and family are always welcome to join in.

The home has two Social Activity Coordinators.
Risedale have a 24 bedded E.M.I. unit which has been specially updated to look after this client group. The staffing levels are extremely high and staff have received training in the care of people with dementing illnesses.

The retirement side provides 45 bedrooms all offering a full en suite facility. Here the emphasis is on providing quality surroundings with person centred care plans produced for clients to enable them to maintain their independence.

Risedale have a Gold Standard trained link team leader Heath Care Assistant who can be used by the home for advice.

Risedale has an ethos for training and development, and has developed a registered training centre which is based at Abbey Meadow. The centre offers NVQ training in care and the training and development award and LMA to their staff. Staff undertaking these awards are well supported in the work place by mentors, assessors & I.V.’s.

Risedale continue to work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide an integrated approach of delivery of service.
